GM Airbag Recall Lawsuit:

On Wednesday, November 15, 2014, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced a massive recall of 1.6 million vehicles with General Motors (GM) airbag systems.

The recall covers certain model year 2009 through 2013 Chevrolet Malibus and 2007 through 2013 GMC Savanas. The NHTSA investigation identified a “potential issue with the deployment of the airbags” in these vehicles.

The issue is that the software controlling the deployment of the airbags may not have properly detected an angle change during a crash, potentially resulting in the airbags not deploying properly in a crash. Injuries as a result of this could include head and neck injuries, spinal cord injuries, and even death.

As of November 15th, GM has already issued a recall for 1.6 million vehicles and is working to fix the software so that all airbags will deploy properly in crashes. If you have one of these models and have not received notification from GM yet, please follow their instructions to get your vehicle fixed.
